Here are a few helpful hints on buying paint.

• Don’t be afraid to ask the sales clerk about what to get. Believe it or not, if you are at a large store such as Home Depot or Lowes, the sales people in the paint department have to go through extensive testing and will most likely know the answers to your questions.
• Always have your paint shook up even if it’s a color that doesn’t have to be mixed.
• If you’re not sure, spend the $3 it costs to purchase a sample color. That’s better than picking the wrong color and keep in mind that tinted colors usually cannot be returned. Be sure before you buy.
• Decide if you want quality or want to save money. The higher quality paint is higher priced but will last longer with less coats. Sometimes cheap costs more in the long run.
